Hello Bobbledy-ers! Bobblers? Bobbleders?
Well, we’ve just returned from a very long surprise birthday trip/vacation/christmas holiday/conference. (You can read more about it here if you’d like). So we’re getting settled back in to the Bobbledy routine. Last month’s theme was “Deserts” and though we didn’t get too much engagement (that’s okay! You’re getting settled back in too!) we got a great drawing from Simon (see his post HERE) and made lots of interesting discoveries about the desert. Catch up on it all on the Bobbledy FB page, and if you have any interesting things to share off of the top of your head, please pipe up!
But onwards! It is now January, and time to dive into our next Theme of the Month – perhaps my favorite theme of anything EVER –
ICE CREAM!
And so, for this month:
Everett says that his favorite flavor of ice cream is chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Oh so decisive, is our Everett. Simon prefers the same “all-in-one” Neapolitan, and moose tracks too.
I am planning on making ice cream for Kato’s birthday (I’ve found a recipe that doesn’t require an ice cream maker). The recipe makes all kinds of suggestions for flavors and things to blend in (crumbled cake and frosting! homemade cookies! mango puree!) but Kato just wants chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. I guess I’ll have to do all the wacky experimenting myself. Stay tuned…
I have an ice cream maker if you want to borrow it. It’s really fun to make up flavors! Sydney liked when we made plain old strawberry. My fave was the white chocolate chip.
We also have an ice cream maker, but I have yet to get good ice cream out of it. I’m going to try a new recipe I found that just requires a stand mixer, cream, and condensed milk. I’ll let you know how it goes…
For the record, this ice cream making operation is not sanctioned by this member of the Bobbledy equation. Ice cream is the worst! It’s too cold! It’s far too sweet and creamy! As far as I’m concerned, ice cream only exists as a means of getting hot fudge into one’s mouth.
