This week we have a writing prompt for you.

As usual, Robbi has drawn a picture to get you started, but this week, I find myself a little bit worried. Instead of a friendly puppy or a curious frog, Robbi has created a scene of maritime calamity. It seems that we’re going to need you to help the poor people on this ship find a way to safety.

Octopus Ship

Or maybe this story doesn’t end well. Perhaps those tentacle things are going win. Or perhaps those tentacle things aren’t scary at all, but are, in fact, filled with lemonade for the thirsty sailors. The point is, you get to decide.

So take out your pencil or go to your computer or consult your favorite transcriptionist (hint: adults are usually pretty good at writing down the things you say while you make up a story).

When you’re done writing your story, give it a title, and send it to me by next Monday so that I can post it here for everyone to read.

Happy writing. Or sad, labored, vexing writing, as the case may be. The creative process is so unpredictable.
