Hello everyone! Last night we got back from a trip to New York and I asked Matthew what I should be working on for the next few days. He thought for a minute and said, “Isn’t tomorrow Friday?” and I said, “Uh…” and he said, “Yes, yes it is. And on Fridays we do Bobbledy Book prompts,” and I said, “Ok,” and he said, “Did you do a drawing for the writing prompt for tomorrow?” and I said, “Uh…” and he said, “I don’t think you did,” and I said, “Uh…”
So after putting the kids to bed, we put our heads together to think of something to draw. My mind was blank (it was still saying “Uh…”) so I asked Matthew for some ideas.
“How about two lizards biting each other’s tails?” he said.
“Uh…”
“Or, maybe, an octopus with his arms in knots?” he suggested.
“Uh… Okay.”
So I sat down at my desk, and this is what happened:
I’m not really sure what it is. It’s definitely not lizards, or an octopus. Though it has a squirrel tail, it doesn’t quite look like a squirrel. In my head it was more like a meerkat:

(you can learn more about meerkats HERE)
or maybe like Alden’s stuffed animal friend named Friend:
But now that I look at it in the light of day, I’m thinking I was unduly influenced by the many viewings of Ice Age I have recently been subjected to (Alden and Kato are big fans). There’s a squirrel named Scrat who has those bulgy eyes and long nose.
Regardless, this is the writing prompt you all are stuck with. So, here it is:
What is this little creature? What does he like to do every day? What does he want more than anything in the world?
Tell us what we should name this painting, and give us this little guy’s story (or, maybe he’s a big, giant guy, it’s up to you!). Then send it to Matthew so that we can post it for everyone to read next Wednesday, March 27. We look forward to hearing what stories you’ve come up with!
