Hi everyone! So, Tuesdays are the day that we draw! And today we’ll be drawing beavers! (Actually, you can draw beavers any day this week and come back and post them here in the comments for everyone else to see).
So, after reading Matthew’s story about Rodney Beaver I thought it might be fun to draw a beaver party. What would beavers do at a beaver party? Dance the limbo, of course!!
Alright! So get drawing everyone! We can’t wait to see what you decide to draw. Just upload your picture to the comments below.
And, in case you’ve forgotten – on Friday we will pick our favorite reader-submitted thing (story, drawing, quiz answer, complaint, etc.) and award it a prize. So submit!
And parents – don’t forget to check back tomorrow for our NEW Parents’ roundtable!
(Oh, and also: if you like this drawing, head on over to ebay and put your bid in – the auction ends on Sunday at 12:30PM EST, same as it used to!)

Hi Everyone – My preschool class studied beavers in the Fall, and we learned they have ORANGE TEETH! So if you want your drawing to be more accurate than 98% of all extant illustrations, go orange! My mom tried to find a good photo – this is the best she could find… http://www.funbestworld.com/attachment.php?aid=12670 I would also like to add that river otters and bears are their chief predators. Happy New Year! Zane Stanley – age 4.5 – Portland, Oregon.
EXCELLENT INTEL, ZANE! Thank you for righting this wrong! I will not have my illustration be one of those fakes! One of those misbegotten attempts to whitewash beaver dentistry! Hooray for orange teeth!!!
This updated illustration is now Zane approved! :B << beaver smile emoticon
Here’s another photo I found (by Sylvain Haye [CC-BY-SA-3.0 or GFDL], via Wikimedia Commons). You’re so right! Those teeth are ORANGE!
The beaver is swimming in a big ocean. You can see a tree falling down that he chopped down behind him.
In my story, I had pet beavers. I put them on leashes. I also made them little beds in our house to sleep in at night. They didn’t chew up the beds because I gave them lots of sticks for dinner first.
I have to choose a topic to write and draw each week for my kindergarten class. Thanks to Bobbledy Books, I don’t have to think too hard about a topic this week. I was tickled by beaver’s extra set of eyes–a natural goggles for swimming or in my story, a perfect safety glasses when working with wood.
