This week we hosted the first-ever Bobbledy writing prompt, asking kids to respond to this painting by Robbi, and before I forget to tell you, this painting has just been posted for auction on Ebay.

We asked kids to tell us:

1) what it should be called

2) the story of what’s happening.

From daily experience with our own small herd of small people, we are well-acquainted with the amazing angles of kids’ brains, but still we were delighted with what they came up with.

Jackson

robot/cat

“The robot’s name is Cheese. The cat’s name is Cheese too. Cheese is trying to hug Cheese. They’re friends. They met at school. But robots don’t go to school. And cats don’t go to school.”

Alex

Robot Cash Register

“The cat wants to buy the robot with his money but the robot is too expensive because he only has one arm and a yellow door.”

Jenny

Robot Mouse

“I don’t know why the robot is sitting on pencils. His mouse ears look like rugs. I hope he doesn’t hurt the cat with his sharp claws.”

Jeff

Eating Cats

“This robot is farting because he ate a cat. He’s going to eat another cat and fart again. That’s a little bit sad.”

Veronica

Cat House with Wheels On It

“The cat’s house is on wheels so he can live in different places. The robot house picks him up and puts him inside when it is cold. The house says “cat” so that the cat remembers where he is supposed to live. It is warm inside the house and that’s why there is smoke.”

Tyler

Tyler

“The robot is reaching down to get the cat and is going to take him to the kitchen so the cat can get a fork, just like in Bobby and the Robots! The name of the picture is ‘Tyler’ because that’s my name, too.”

Spencer

Cat House

“The name of the picture is ‘Cat House.’ The robot is the cat’s house, which is why it says, ‘Cat’ on it. But the house is too high for the cat to get in, so there’s an arm that lifts the cat up into the door.”

Julia and Nate (working together)

The Robot Says “CAT”

“The robot says “CAT” and wants to pick that cat up and put it through the door.  When the cat comes out, it will have no fur!”

Kato

Playing

“That robot wants to pick up that kitty.”

Alden

Robot and Kitty

That cat wants to go in the door to get her temperature taken. Because she needs to be extra strong and extra good when she goes to the doctor.

Douglas

Hug Me Robot

“I want to hug that robot. He is sad. He only has one arm and can’t really hug. He is on fire, I think.”

Robbi and I voted, and “Hug Me Robot” is our favorite title, so thanks Douglas, for coming up with it. As I mentioned earlier, we just put Robbi’s painting up for auction on Ebay, and have named it “Hug Me Robot.” The auction will end next Monday at 12:30pm.

This Friday, we’ll be posting the new prompt, which will be a drawing prompt again. From here on out, we’re going to alternate between drawing and writing prompts each week.

Thanks, everyone, for sharing your stories!
