Last night after dinner, we decided to cap a nice weekend with a trip to Rita’s for some Italian ice. We were there to indulge ourselves, but much to our surprise, the trip turned out to have an educational underpinning.

As shown.

Kato got an Italian ice.

August got a soft serve ice cream.

August took a bite.

And then (quite unprompted, I might add)  shared a bite.

Then took a bite.

Then shared a bite again.

His largesse did not go unnoticed.

As the sharing moved from ice cream to ice, the pattern held. Kato took a bite.

Then shared one.

Lest you are growing sickened at this heartwarming display of brotherly compassion, know that moments such as these are sharply contrasted with others in which hair is pulled, plastic toys are flung, and the ancient art of not sharing is on prominent display.

But there at the end of the day, this simple passage of accord was delightful to see. And hopefully a preview of things to come. Soon, they will be able to  play together, to work together toward a mutual goal. By which I mean, soon they will be able to conspire.

But whatever they do (barring acts requiring prison time), we’ll be happy as long as they do it together.
