We just got this card from Bobbledy Mom Barbara, who sent along her daughter Maureen’s (Mo’s) completed birthday card with the following thoughts:
Mo’s 2nd birthday was January 3rd, so I’m sending along a photo of her drawing for you to see. She immediately identified the animals as ‘tut-tuhls.’ We think that the turtles were admiring the atmospheric conditions. (Robb thinks maybe she’s been watching too many SciFi disaster movies with him.) Mo said, “Bwah bwah bwah bwah…” while she colored, which must be the twinkling/shimmering noise the northern lights make. I added a rainbow in the corner for a splash of color. Then Mo stole all of the markers from me and ran away. Thank you for the birthday card!
No, Mo, thank YOU for the birthday card, and for giving these “tut-tuhls” a chance to see the Northern Lights. This kind of outside-the-box thinking is just the sort of thing we were hoping would happen when we sent this mostly blank card your way.
For now, enjoy being two, keep on drawing, and don’t listen when your parents tell you not to mess things up. Tell them you’re making art and that they’re restricting your creative freedom. But if they look at you funny and ask you who has been filling your head with “crazy notions,” I’ll deny we ever spoke.
