As it turns out we got more than one submission for last week’s drawing prompt after all. Our most reliable prompt-responders Spencer and Tyler did complete drawings, but because they live in California and we live in Maryland, their drawings came in too late to be included when we posted on the other kids’ submissions. But I am happy to share them now.

According to Tyler’s mom, his drawing “shows two things growing: the sun (that’s why there are three suns in the sky) and blue flower-people growing up out of the ground. Not sure if you can see it in the photo I took of the drawing, but Tyler’s trademark smiley face is in each of the blue flowers…”

The boys’ mom went on to say that, “Spencer’s drawing is remarkably minimalistic compared to his usual fill-the-page style. I’m intrigued by the single brown line on the left – a wayward line or something intentional? I’m not sure… The orange thing is most definitely a seed or egg of some sort…maybe in time it will grow into a blueberry tree like the one next to it?”

Thanks to Tyler and Spencer for doing these drawings and sharing them with us, keeping alive a streak of having participated in every single prompt to date.

Tyler and Spencer’s mom has been gently reminding us for a while now that it might be a nice idea to offer parents an automated way to be reminded of our writing and drawing prompts. And after this week’s near-miss, we (meaning Robbi) finally sat down and figured out how to do it.

So…if you’d like to receive a weekly email letting you know when the new prompt is live, just click here and enter your email address. You can unsubscribe at any point. But we’re not sure why you’d want to do such a thing.
