Last week Tilly asked you to draw a “non-traditional Thanksgiving.”

Really, what she said was: Draw what you would be doing and eating, and who you would be with to celebrate Thanksgiving if you couldn’t have it with your family. My rabbit and cat friend keep it pretty simple and fairly traditional on Thanksgiving, but maybe you wouldn’t. Would you sit on a cloud fishing for raindrops to make special Thanksgiving water? Would you crawl under your bed and have dinner with all the dust-monsters and their babies? Or would you just go to your neighbor’s house?

It’s 8:00 on Monday night and I have to get up at 4:30 in the morning to catch a plane to Mississippi. And so, I am going to bed as soon as I finish this post. Unfortunately, this means that some of you whose drawings haven’t arrived yet aren’t going to see them in this post. I’ll be sure to put up as soon as I get back from my trip, so check again on Wednesday.

For now, though, I want to share this drawing from Joe. According to his mom:

Joe would celebrate Thanksgiving with a Moose. There would be “a bowl of green grass” for the Moose, and “a Canelé” for Joe himself.
They’d drink: glasses of “fresh water.”
“That’s it??” I ask.
“That’s it,” Joe says.
(Hmm… I can’t say the Moose doesn’t seem surprised…)

For those of you who don’t know what a Canelé is (I didn’t), Joe sent us a picture.

It’s a French dessert, apparently, and Joe’s favorite. I wonder if the moose would have preferred a Canelé of his own to that bowl of green grass. I guess we’ll never know.

For those of you who don’t see your drawings here, check back tomorrow!
