Hello Bobbledy kids. If you haven’t already, you will, very soon, be getting your Bobbledy Blob in the mail. It looks like this.

Why have we sent you a five-headed crayon? Because we want you to draw. And we want you to draw a lot. Drawing is the best way to share all the fun things happening inside your head with other people.

Every week on the Bobbledy Blog, we’re going to give you a prompt. Which means, we’re going to say something like, “Hey, draw a pineapple with a hat on it.” And then you can draw a pineapple with a hat on it. Maybe your pineapple is yellow and maybe it’s blue. Maybe your pineapple is wearing a fireman’s hat, or maybe it’s wearing an astronaut helmet. It doesn’t matter to us what kind of pineapple or what kind of hat. All we care about is that you draw something.

Actually, that’s not quite true. We also want you to share it with us. Because half of the fun (if not more) of drawing something is showing it to other people so that they can see what you see when you close your eyes.

So: here’s your first assignment. Draw a picture of yourself riding on a wild animal. It can be any kind of wild animal you want. It doesn’t even have to be a real wild animal. Put your name on the picture if you want to. When you’re done, have your mom, dad, aunt, uncle, grandpa, grandma, neighbor, violin teacher, or older sister take a picture of your drawing (or even scan it, if possible) and send it to us in an email. We’ll post it right here on the Bobbledy Blog on Thursday so that everyone can see it and so you can send it along to your friends and family who live in other places.

We hope you think this sounds like fun. To get you started, here is Robbi’s picture of herself riding on a wild animal.

I asked her what kind of wild animal it was, but she refused to tell me.

And here’s my drawing of myself riding on a wompalope.

And here’s Alden’s painting of herself riding on a camel. She told me that she is riding on the “biggest hump.”

Alden did her painting while sitting on the floor, but you can do yours anywhere you like.

We asked Kato if he wanted to do a drawing of himself riding on a wild animal, but he said that it sounded “too tricky” and decided to eat some popcorn instead.

We asked Baby August, but he was too busy doing something else.

But Robbi, Alden, and I all had lots of fun doing our drawings. We hope you have just as much fun with yours.

Happy drawing!

PS – here’s that email address again

PPS – You don’t have to be a Bobbledy Books club member to do this drawing and send us your picture. Drawing stuff is for everyone.
