It’s only a few weeks until we send out the next Bobbledy Book, so of course we have been busily working on it.
The book in question is the next “Make Your Own Book” book. Which means that I’ve written the beginning of a story and Robbi has created a few illustrations to get you started, but the rest of the book will be left unwritten and and unillustrated. Which means that we’re counting on you to finish the story and draw the rest of the pictures.
For now, the book is called The Snowmen Below, but that could definitely change if some kid decides that it should be called something else. We think that kids have a far better idea of what this book should be about than we do.
For now, the book has a trapdoor on the cover. Why? Because I love trapdoors. I love ladders leading down. So much possibility. But maybe a kid will decide that the book should have a three-headed kitten on the cover. Why? Because three-headed kittens are remarkable.
In making this book, one of the things Robbi had to do was draw the frame for the author’s page in the back. People who write books are very special people, and so (it stands to reason), their likenesses deserve very special frames.
You have to admit, this frame is pretty darn special:
First Robbi drew the frame with her pen, and then she painted it.
Check out Robbi’s brand new palette (which is the tray on which a painter puts the various colors she’s using). Since her old palette was a piece of tin foil, she considers it a major upgrade.
The frame is almost done. In a month or so, it will be filled by various faces of young authors from all over the country (and world!).
We’re hoping that yours is among them.
Much more on the Snowmen to come.
