The very last page of The Girl With Frogs in Her Ears is about us. We added a bit of information about ourselves, figuring that kids might be interested in getting to know the people who wrote the story and drew the pictures for the book.
Little did we know that, in so doing, we were predicting the future. A few days after we sent out the book, we got this email:
Matthew and Robbi,
This email is about cake. That got your attention, didn’t it?
Just after Everett’s birthday, we received the The Girl with Frogs in Her Ears and read it with delight. Imagine our surprise when we saw Everett’s birthday cake featured at the end! We noticed it in the section in the back where Robbi is shown eating a vanilla cake with pink frosting. Everett’s cake was exactly that — he had requested it months in advance! Great minds think alike! See attached pic.
Cheers!
Virginia
Here is the cake in question.
And here’s a piece of the cake. It looks exactly like the one that Robbi drew!
And, apparently, it tasted just as delicious as Robbi’s, too.
Or so Virginia says. We’ll never know for sure. She only sent us a photo, but not a piece of the cake itself.
This post is making me hungry. I’m going to ask Robbi if she can draw me up a plate of nachos.
