Here is a card from Bobbledy club member Lea, who recently had a birthday and sent us this drawing to celebrate the occasion.
I love this drawing. For many reasons.
1) the terrifying walrus thing that is scaring the cat
2) that the terrifying walrus thing seems to be levitating
3) the idea that the terrifying walrus thing could have fit through that tiny mouse hole
4) that the terrifying walrus thing is wearing a party hat
5) that the cat is wearing a party hat, which seems to be strapped around his head with a string
6) that the birthday cake is levitating
7) that the birthday candles are burning brightly; it seems the terrifying walrus thing showed up at exactly the right moment to sing Happy Birthday
8) That the sun is shining cheerfully outside
Here’s how I picture it: The poor cat was trying to celebrate his birthday but none of his friends could make it to the party. So eventually, he lit the candles and was about to enjoy his cake in agonizing solitude when suddenly, the terrifying walrus thing showed up from who knows where to rescue the cat from loneliness. Being unannounced and completely terrifying, however, the walrus thing ended up scaring the cat and the cake so much that they both leaped into the air. My strong suspicion is that, moments later, the cat and the walrus thing have a big hug and eat cake together and maybe play cards together for hours. But we won’t know for sure unless Lea draws us the next picture.
