Recently, we sent out the first batch of a brand-new birthday card design and club member Jill has the distinction of being the first person to finish her drawing and send it in.

As you can probably see, Robbi created a high dive and an empty swimming pool, leaving it to kids to tell us what was doing the jumping and what might be waiting down below.

I think Jill did a great job of creating a gripping, single panel narrative.

While I’m not exactly sure what sort of creature that green jumping thing might be, I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter. What does matter is the telltale fin of the shark that lurks in the waters below. What will happen when our green protagonist hits the water?

This, my friends, is called dramatic tension. This is why Jill will sell a million copies of her first novel. I can hardly wait until her next birthday to see what happens next.

For now, however, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JILL! And thanks so much for sharing your drawing with us.
