When we started Bobbledy Books, our intention had been to vary the birthday card design every few months or so. By now, you’re well familiar with the lizards on their bicycles. So familiar, in fact, that you probably suspect we did not make good on our original intention. But just the other day, Robbi sat down and drew a brand new birthday card design. This one features a cat looking very surprised at something that has (presumably) just crept out of a hole in the wall. But what could it be? We turned to the birthday kid to provide the answer in picture form.

We have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the first card with the new design, and here it is, from Emiliano, who also sent us this note.

Dear Robbi and Matthew

Thank you for my birthday card. I am sending you a copy of what I drew. A big rat came out of the little hole and scared the cat.

Sincerely,
Emiliano
Age 8!!!!!!

P.S. I love getting mail from you.

All we can say is, what a great drawing. That is one scary rat. If I were that cat, I’d be jumping even higher. I love his ghastly yellow tail and feet and ears and nose and jaws. I love that he is so big and yet came through such a very small hole.

Happy Birthday, Emiliano! Thanks so much for sharing your drawing.

And just so you know, we love sending mail to you.
