We asked kids to send us pictures of themselves in their Halloween costumes. Here’s what they sent!

Tyler, dressed as a (very scary) skeleton, seemed to have a great time at a Halloween party in Dulan, Taiwan.

Diego dressed like his favorite musician, Frank Zappa.

Here’s the real Frank Zappa. I think you have to admit, it’s hard to tell the difference.

Garica dressed as a kitty cat.

And here are the brothers together. Again, Diego’s Zappa-eske stare is so dead on that I feel like I’m looking at an album cover. You know, the one where Zappa poses with a kitty cat?

And here is Elijah as a fire chief. Look out, disaster.

Here’s Sunny and Courtland as Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf.

If you ask me, Big Bad is doing a really good job of pretending that she’s not planning on eating Little Red for lunch.

And here’s Stella as a robot! A robot with two different socks on, which is my favorite kind of robot.

And here is Spencer, dressed as a pirate.

I hope that someone gave him a band-aid after this photo was taken.

And here is Emily as Rapunzel.

I appreciate the attention to detail displayed by whomever provided her with Pascal the chameleon, which really completes the scene. I’m only sorry that she was not trapped atop a very tall tower when this picture was taken.

Here is Calli’s drawing of her costume.

And here she is in her actual costume. The question is, what is she?

My best guess was polka dotted strawberry girl. But then Robbi informed me that Calli is actually a cupcake! In fact, Robbi wants me to inform you that I am writing this on my laptop as we drive across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and that, glancing momentarily across the car in the darkness, she saw this photo for a split second and knew at once that Calli was dressed up as a cupcake.I guess what I’m trying to say is that Calli’s costume is fantastic and clearly a cupcake and that I am a real ninny for not realizing it immediately.

Now I feel quite sheepish. And so I’m going to go to bed.
