I’m not sure if we’ve explained this before, but Matthew and I work from home. We have an office in our bedroom (or a bedroom in our office) and so a lot of times Alden and Kato and August feel like it’s quite alright to sneak into the office and “help” us do our work.

One of their favorite intern duties is applying stamps to postcards and letters we send out. I even got a cute little mailbox stamp dispenser to have on my desk. I love it.

Mailbox stamp dispenser

They seem to love it too.

HOWEVER.

When I went into the office the other day to get some mailings out, my stamps were NOT in their cute dispenser.

Stamps removed

This was very irritating. I needed to dispense my stamps, pronto! And so I went to put the stamps back in the dispenser, and lo! Look what I found:

Golden Treasure

What a delightful surprise! It was no longer a cute stamp dispenser, but a treasure chest filled with gold[fish]!

Eating goldfish

I guess there are some upsides to having kids wandering around your office, messing with things. I’m starting to think I should maybe get a bigger stamp dispenser though. Those goldfish went pretty quick.

Done

As I sidenote, I just looked up “Golden Treasure” to make sure it wasn’t some street slang for something awful, and instead discovered this Wikipedia entry, which might be the most uncompelling description of a fairy tale I have ever read.
