As we wrote about a week or so ago, Robbi and I are going to do a drawing every day this year, using the book 712 More Things to Draw to give us ideas.
The first prompt was “envelope.” Pretty simple. A nice way to start a year-long challenge.
Here is my envelope.
I’m pretty happy with it, actually. I mean, it looks like an envelope, at least.
Here is Robbi’s envelope:
I like how her envelope contains a note that tells a bit of a story. Why is there a heart on the letter inside? Who is it for? Who is it from? I like how she suggested the gummy part of the envelope flap by drawing lots of tiny dots.
Alden and Kato were not about to let us have all the fun.
Here’s Kato’s:
Kato was very proud of his envelope.
And why not? It’s pretty darn good for a two-year-old. Though, to be fair, he’s almost three.
And here’s Alden’s:
I wish more envelopes were shaped like this one. The world would be more interesting.
And here’s an envelope drawing by our friend David.
David is an actor on Broadway, but, apparently, he likes drawing, too.
Any of you is welcome to join us by ordering a copy of the book or by following our prompts on the blog.
