Last week, we showed you Robbi’s drawing of a small dog in a big wig and asked you to draw pictures of things that didn’t quite go together.

For example, Spencer’s drawing of “a bathroom in the dining room.”

Though certainly convenient (not having to miss a single moment of dinner conversation, even when nature calls), I’ve never seen a bathroom in a dining room, and since I pride myself on having seen at least one of everything there is in the entire world (ok, not really), I’m convinced that Spencer has truly stumbled upon two things that just don’t go together. Well done, Spencer. Now see what you can do to make this beautiful dream a reality.

As for Tyler, his drawing features “a hamburger made out of bugs and worms.”

Although I’ve never seen this particular treat at McDonalds, I wonder if our friends in the bird world might be enthusiastic about this dish. But what would we call it? The McBug? The Bacon Double Wormburger? I’m starting to get hungry. But that’s probably because it’s time for lunch. I think I’ll have a piece of chicken. With no bugs. And no worms. But maybe some cheese.

And here, from Joe, is “an elephant doing your laundry (happily.)”

I’m glad Joe clarified by adding “happily,” because, in my experience, the “happily” is the thing that makes this scene not quite right. Whenever elephants show up to do my laundry, they always grumble and scowl, as if I were asking them to do something really awful. Which is ridiculous, because elephants were made to do laundry, with their flexible trunk just perfect for folding shirts and their ability to blast the toughest stains with their high-pressure nose nozzle. I wonder what Joe did to make this elephant smile so cheerfully for his drawing. Perhaps bananas were involved? Perhaps a lot of bananas?

Here’s what Emiliano had to say about his drawing.

Topic: Things that don’t mix

Things: Fire, water, and lightning

Species: Monster

Indeed, Emiliano’s monster is a study in contradictions. How, one might rightly ask, does the water not immediately extinguish the fire? How does the lightning not instantly boil the water and turn it to steam? How does this monster manage to remain so cheerful (that is a smile on his face, isn’t it?) when he must be simultaneously hot and wet and electrified?

I suspect the answer lies somewhere in the vast gulf between our best guesses and the actual physiology of monsters. Monsters are monsters precisely because we don’t understand them. It would be a shame to start now.

Here is Alden’s drawing of a “lion flying a rocket ship.”

Alden "Not Quite Right"

I’m not 100% sure, but I’m guessing that NASA wouldn’t be to happy about this. Rocket ships are very expensive and lions are extremely careless. At least when it comes to flying. All I know is, whoever packed for that Mars mission better have brought along several hundred pounds of raw meat, or they are going to have one extremely unhappy four-legged astronaut to deal with.

As for Kato, here is his drawing of “a pen flying an airplane.”

Kato "Not Quite Right"

If there is anything less-well-equipped than a lion to climb into the cockpit of a flying contraption, it is probably a pen. All the pens I know lack several key ingredients for flying. Namely, hands, eyes, and lightning-quick reflexes. But perhaps Kato is familiar with a better, wiser, more capable brand of pen. I see the youthful optimism in his eyes.

And finally, we return to Robbi’s dog in a wig.

Robbi's "Dog in a Wig"

Now that Robbi has finally applied a much-needed coat of paint, we can see that not only is this dog wearing a wig, but this dog is wearing a blond wig. Which means that this dog is probably trying to impress someone. Perhaps that someone is you? Perhaps this poor dog is just looking for a home and is desperately trying anything he can think of to catch your eye.

If you feel anything for this dog, be it love, intrigue, or even just pity, you may bid for the right to take him home. The auction ends at 12:30 Sunday afternoon. May whatever infusion of enthusiasm and madness that drove last week’s bidding to record highs return once more.
