Alright! Today is drawing Tuesday!
I decided to draw my favorite trash-lover, Oscar the Grouch. He always has such a good attitude about trash, even though it turns out that trash is a totally depressing topic. Sorry about that. We promise next week’s theme will be much less guilt-inducing to your parents.
So here’s my drawing of Oscar the Grouch.
If, for some insane reason, any of you are unfamiliar with Oscar the Grouch, here he is singing about how much he loves trash:
He doesn’t look anything like our cat Oscar, but Oscar has a love of trash and has turned into a crotchety, grouchy old man. So I call him Oscar the Grouch too. (Though, to be fair, his flair for style has also earned him the moniker Oscar de la Renta.) If, for some insane reason, any of you are familiar with Oscar the Cat, here he is looking dapper in the barn.

with special thanks to the fabulous Ashley Weeks Cart for the photo! Hire her to take photos of YOUR dapper cat! (or dapper family!) Also, ps check out her blog. I designed the header, yeah!
So – what do you like about garbage? Is it the garbage trucks? Recycling? Great big piles of trash? Draw a picture and have your mom or dad post it to the comments. And don’t forget that our favorite response of the week wins a small archival print of my drawing of Oscar! And a 100% recyclable trophy!
We’ve also just added Instagram, so if you’d rather, you can have your parents take a picture of your drawing and post it to Instagram using #bobbledygarbage and it will appear over in the sidebar on our Instagram feed.
Also: you can bid on my Oscar drawing over HERE on eBay! Worth more than a piece of garbage!

Harvey also included the following story:
Once there was a transformer named Garbage Defeater also known as Trash Defeater. He lived in a town called Trash Land. He always helps pick up trash. He uses his Sucker Upper to pick up scrap vehicles and metals and food and turn them into plant food. He sprinkles it with his crop duster.
Harvey ran out of room on his writing paper, but he also thought that the Garbage Defeater would use his axe to chop up garbage and blades to grind up metals. The Garbage Defeater would also pick up broken art supplies and grind them up with chopped wood and turn them into coloring books for boys and girls.
Great story and drawing, Harvey!! Love how you’ve combined cleaning up trash with feeding plants! I hope you grow up to be an inventor, because the world could really use a real life Garbage Defeater!!
Strangely enough, Kato also created a transformer garbage truck. His transforms into a jet, which flies the trash away (no beeping sounds early in the morning while the garbage truck backs up).
Alden drew her garbage truck with lots and lots of garbage bags inside. At first I thought they were black fish, which would have been pretty stinky. She insists that all those garbage bags would be even stinkier. We’re all about the stinky around here.
Check out Paxon’s amazing machine. It combines blue-flame incineration with gravity-defying forces to turn trash into ash and send it into space. Thanks, Paxon!
From Valerie: This is a “Recycle Producer” because it gets all the recycled stuff each week and produces clean plastic bottles and plastic toys for kids. The toys go to the poor kids and the plastic bottles go to people who do not have clean water. (After bottles are made, they are filled with clean water).
