Hello folks. I’m just writing to let you all know that your finished copies of Gorillas in the Kitchen are due one month from today. That’s December 15. Put it on your calendars!
For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, the last Bobbledy Book we sent out was unfinished. I wrote the beginning of a story, and Robbi added an illustration to each page, but we asked kids to finish the story and to add the rest of the illustrations.
We’ve asked kids to send us their books when they’re done. We’re going to pick one to publish and send out to all the other kids in the club in February.
If you haven’t gotten started with your book, there’s still plenty of time left. If you’ve started and are having trouble, it’s totally ok to ask a grownup to help you. Writing a book is hard. Illustrating a book is hard. But also lots of fun.
Just sit down and start making up your story and see what comes out. Sometimes it’s easier to make up a story by just saying it out loud and having someone else write down the words.
See what the characters look like in your head, then take out your crayons or markers and see what they look like on the page.
Before long, you’ll have a book.
It’s kind of like magic.
